GSL provides a wide range of mathematical routines to C/C++ programmers in the form of random number generators, special functions and least-squares fitting among others. Due to known issues when built with Pathscale compilers, the only build of GSL available on the Opteron-based clusters is one using gcc. The ability to provide any suitable BLAS library at link-time can be leveraged to ensure good performance.

o Nov 18, 2015: Installed gsl/1.15 on vdi-centos6, copper, mosaic.
o Aprl 25, 2012: Installed version 1.15 on x86_64 clusters including monk.
o Mar 15, 2012: Replaced the current gsl 1.13 with module based gsl 1.13 on all systems (note that this may required some users to recompile using rpath for runtime linking shared libraries since LD_LIBRARY_PATH is no longer defined). Installed modular based gsl 1.15 on all systems which including both intel and gcc flavors.
