GSL provides a wide range of mathematical routines to C/C++ programmers in the form of random number generators, special functions and least-squares fitting among others. There are over 1000 functions in total with an extensive test suite. Please refer to the provided URL for a more comprehensive list of the funcationality provided. [http://www.gnu.org/software/gsl/]
Due to known issues when built with Pathscale compilers, the only build of GSL available on the Opteron-based clusters is one using gcc. The ability to provide any suitable BLAS library at link-time can be leveraged to ensure good performance.
