Abstract
An adaptive wavelet collocation method for three-dimensional fluid--structure interaction at large Reynolds numbers is presented. This approach is shown to give accurate results with a reduced number of computational elements. The method is applied to two-dimensional flow past moving and fixed cylinders at Re=10^2 and Re=10^4, and to three-dimensional flow past a sphere at Re=500. This is the first three-dimensional calculation of a flow past an obstacle using a dynamically adapted wavelet based approach.
