Most of the classes turned out to be what I expected. They were very well executed especially the python class. I was quite lost in the OpenMP class. This is perhaps because I didn't take the MPI class. It would be great to know if another class is a prerequisite for another. Although I was lost in the OpenMP class it was great to have such detailed and informed slides. This is very useful in reviewing the lessons after class.

It has been a great experience as the instructors were very helpful. One small issue is some missing course materials from this website as it would have been easier to prepare for the classes.

The classes were excellent for my level. I have a strong programming background but I'm completely new to high performance computing and data analysis, and so the classes all helped bring me up to speed about the different aspects of using SHARCNET from parallel processing to visualization. Thank you to all the teachers!

I found every class useful. Cython and the other ways of injecting C into Python were helpful. There is at least one open source machine learning technique I can try to improve with it. A bit more on R in high computing environments would be useful, but the instructor sent along materials that were very helpful after the class. I'm keeping an eye out for when that R/Python hybrid language comes out - I would be interested in learning about HPC for it when it's out. Combining Singularity and RScripts seems useful for our use cases. I still have a hard time figuring out the difference between the Cloud and a Server, but sshfuse seems like a really useful tool. As soon as I got Paraview installed I couldn't stop playing with it. It's very cool. I TA'd the class for Unstructured Data here at Western, so the image format section was very familiar. Python in Machine Learning was done well. Jupyter Notebooks are fantastic. Being able to host Jupyter Notebooks on the Cloud (which then runs jobs on Graham) seems very cool and to have a lot of potential for our use cases. I really liked the way the instructor explained Deep Learning. Some things made more sense after even if I'd previously learned them. The chairs in UCC are very uncomfortable to sit in for extended periods of time.

The classes were very hands-on and the instructors were always willing to help and get everyone on the same page. No one was left behind! I learned a lot and it felt really rewarding.
