This seminar is a follow-up to SHARCNET's regular New User Seminar. It should be beneficial for both new and old users who would like to better understand and get the most out of the SHARCNET computing environment. The following topics will be covered, with a focus on best practices:

  • how to investigate running and completed jobs to understand their behaviour and identify problems
  • how to submit jobs with unique requirements, including a comprehensive overview of the sqsub job submission command
  • how to submit jobs so that they start as soon as possible and run as efficiently as possible
  • how to configure the software and shell environment, including a comprehensive overview of Environment Modules
  • how to manage your data and obtain the best I/O performance
