Software development best practices: Keeping track of your work with Git

Even small projects eventually spawn multiple versions of their key files. Managing this quickly becomes tiresome and affects productivity. Software developers, realizing this is a problem, have (surprise) written software to help keep track of the evolution of projects and the files in them. The most common of these today is Git. It is an open source program written by Linus Torvalds to manage the Linux kernel source code. This talk is an introduction to Git and using it on SHARCNET.
