May ask student to bring their own project and use them as excises in the courses

As it was last year, the clip was fast and the instructors were extremely helpful. I found the material very engaging and challenging, and will be sure to return next year to improve on my skills! Also, banging cookies.

Thank you for the great work you have put in. The summer school was very useful in presenting the needed material for HPC. The presentations were great and they cover the right amount of material. The presenters were excellent. They answered all questions regardless of the student's experience level. I would recommend the course to any science/engineering student interested in learning/improving their HPC skills. If I may say there needs to be more advertising to the summer school. I think besides the departmental emails, graduate student associations will also help letting more people know about the summer school. Also thank you for the cookies and the coffee :) they were delicious :)

The summer school was excellent in all aspects. The instructors were resourceful and sincere. Attending such a short summer school is really helpful and worthy. Especially, HPC may help directly to my research.

I thought that the summer school covered a very basic range of topics. I have been using the scinet system for over a year now, and although I picked up a few things in the sessions, most of them felt like they were mostly targeted at new users who had never done any scientific computing before. That said that instructors generally knew the topics quite well, and there were many opportunities to ask lots of questions, which was very helpful.

Very well organized. Plenty of information to learn in 5/intense days. Experienced teachers. It is a pleasure to enjoy the courses. More expectations: *since it is a "parallel teaching" of parallel, it is a regret that I must miss some nice courses. *timing: teacher does not have to respond to every request/help in the class in order to catch up the pace, since there are too many slices to teach. This situation can be avoided if the program/each session can have few volunteer/TAs to help out some simple questions in some hand-on time.

The summer school was very valuable and gave me a good sense of what kind of tools are available for high performance computing and general issues to consider when doing high performance computing. I think it would have been helpful to have more hands on exercises, but that would have required more time or covering less topics.

It was a great survey of the most common powerful computing methods. I found the python and R sessions to be very helpful. Almost wished there was more on those 2 topics! I do not have solid background in C/C++, yet I found the CUDA sessions very helpful. The rooms where the sessions took place were somewhat uncomfortable, but I understand that booking rooms for this large number of people at UofT can be quite the challenge. Overall, I am happy with the amount of information I learned, and I think the Scinet team put in a lot of effort to make it work, and to make the best out of the available resources.

I learned alot from HPC 15. However, I would ask you to furnish the participants with some notes at the same level of the class for beginners to be able to follow the instructor with ease. In my case, I was installing some software during the class and missed some parts of the lecture. Totally, it was awesome. I thank all of you.

Hands-on material and practices, the supervisors are really helpful. Learned a lot.

I should thank all of you to organize such a great reunion. All instructors were respectful. However, the 2-day GPU programming was very poor instructed. The incoherent theoretical fundamental and pretty useless in-class exercises were not exciting. Unfortunately, I had the same issue last year. I thought reading the online Nvidia tutorial could much more informative.

Thanks for organizing the summer school. Experience was enjoyable and beneficial. For example, even without much C/C++ experience on my part, CUDA class taught enough material to proceed further on my own. Suggestion: It will be great to have links to hands-on exercises from the summer school webpage. Materials can be in format of PDF's or like web-tutorials written in Markdown.
