A reminder for Summer School Central participants: The location is:

  Ramsey Wright Laboratories, Rooms 142 and 143
  University of Toronto, St. George Campus
  25 Harbord Street
  Toronto, ON M5S 3G5
The closest subway stop is St. George. Paid parking is available on the St. George Campus.

Bring a laptop with an ssh client and X-windows installed. For MacOSX or Linux users, this is automatic; for Windows users, we ask you to install MobaXterm, from mobaxterm.mobatek.net. If you are taking the visualization session, please also install paraview.

You need Wireless access for almost all sessions. There are three options:

  • UofT wireless network using your UTorID (U. of Toronto attendees) http://help.ic.utoronto.ca/content/20/704/en/wireless-access.html
  • Eduroam (attendees from other Universities) http://www.canarie.ca/en/caf/participants
  • Temporary access (everyone else; let us know before the session).

Sessions will start at 9:30am, but allow yourself a bit more time on the day of your first session.

Lunch breaks are from 12:30 to 13:30. Short breaks are around 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. Coffee and lunch are not provided, but there are many options on and around campus.

A group photo will be taken on Wednesday afternoon.

Participants who attend at least 3 days of the school will get a summer school certificate.

The Summer School - West at University of Waterloo will start at 9:00am, Monday, May 26. The registration will start at 8:30am, at the following location

SciLab B1-370, Biology 1 Building
University of Waterloo

Attendees will be given a lab computer account for use during the week. Please make sure to bring your own laptop if you are attending Wednesday's class on visualization.

Coffee and refreshments are provided everyday, but you have to make your own arrangements for lunch. There is a good selection of restaurants and cafeterias on campus or close by.

The online registration for Summer School Central at University of Toronto, St. George Campus in downtown Toronto is now open. Attendees attending Summer School Central need to bring their own laptops for all the sessions.

For those who have registered for the session of Visualization of Scientific Data for Summer School West at University of Waterloo on Wednesday, May 28, you will need to bring your laptop.

You need to install ParaView for the visualization class. It is also recommended that you install before hand an SSH (Secure Shell) client for connecting to the SHARCNET systems and an X server for Windows for displaying graphical applications off the remote SHARCNET systems. There are a number of free X servers for Windows, including Xming, Cygwin/X and MobaXterm, etc.

For the MPI and GPU classes, laptops are not required. You will be working on the lab computers.
