24.1.2 Limitations

As mentioned in Section  24.1.1, the formulation in FLUENT can be used to model the solidification/melting of pure materials, as well as alloys. The liquid fraction versus temperature relationship used in FLUENT is the lever rule ; i.e., a linear relationship (Equation  24.2-3). Other relationships are possible [ 361], but are not currently available in FLUENT.

The following limitations apply to the solidification/melting model in FLUENT:
