7.19.5 Effect of Porosity on Transient Scalar Equations

For transient porous media calculations, the effect of porosity on the time-derivative terms is accounted for in all scalar transport equations and the continuity equation. When the effect of porosity is taken into account, the time-derivative term becomes $\frac{\partial}{\partial t}(\gamma \rho \phi)$, where $\phi$ is the scalar quantity ( $k$, $\epsilon$, etc.) and $\gamma$ is the porosity.

The effect of porosity is enabled automatically for transient calculations, and the porosity is set to 1 by default.
