32.4.14 Solve/Animate/Define...

The Solve/Animate/Define... menu item opens the Solution Animation panel.



Solution Animation Panel


You can use the Solution Animation panel to create an animation sequence and indicate how often each frame of the sequence should be created. See Section  25.20.1 for details about the items below.

Animation Sequences   sets the total number of animation sequences to be defined.

Active   activates/deactivates each animation sequence.

Name   specifies a name for each animation sequence.

Every, When   indicate how often you want to create a new frame in the animation sequence. You can enter the interval under Every and select Iteration or Time Step in the drop-down list below When. ( Time Step is a valid choice only if you are calculating unsteady flow.)

Define...   opens the Animation Sequence panel, in which you can define an animation sequence.

The Animation Sequence panel allows you to define each animation sequence. See Section  25.20.1 for details about the items below.

Sequence Parameters   contains general parameters for the storage and display location of the animation sequence.

Storage Type   specifies whether you want FLUENT to save the animation sequence frames in memory ( In Memory) or on your computer's hard drive ( Metafile or PPM Image).

Name   specifies the name of the sequence.

Window   specifies the ID of the graphics window where you want the plot to be displayed. You must click Set to set the specified Window.

When FLUENT is iterating, the active graphics window is set to this window to update the plot. If you want to maintain each animation in a separate window, specify a different Window ID for each.

Set   sets the specified Window to be the window where the plot will be displayed. (The specified window will open, if it is not already open.)

Storage Directory   specifies the directory where you want to store the files. (This can be a relative or absolute path.) This item is used only if Disk is selected under Storage Type.

Display Type   specifies the type of display to be animated.

Grid   selects a grid display.

Contours   selects a contour display.

Pathlines   selects pathlines to display.

Particle Tracks   selects particle tracks to display.

Vectors   selects a vector display.

XY Plot   selects a solution XY plot.

Monitor   selects a monitor plot.

Monitor Type   contains a drop-down list of the available types of monitor plots ( Residuals, Force, Statistic, Surface, and Volume).

Properties...   opens the panel that corresponds to the selected display type (e.g., the Contours panel if you have selected Contours).
